Writer and Photographer
Active freelance underwater photographer with work published
in many magazines and books. Has jointly worked with journalist
and produced a book entitled "Diving Escapade in
Thailand's Tropical Seas" which won the Singapore
Publishers Award of 1994. He was the column writer of
the "Gearing Up" section in Asian Diver Magazine
and the Tek Diving column in Decom.Stop Magazine.
He is also a contributor to the Tec Asia Magazine and
premier photographic magazine, Asian Photography.
International Trainer and
Leader
Field experience in diving includes leading expedition
groups to Malaysia, Thailand, Phillipines, Borneo, Maldives,
Australia, New Zealand, The United States of America,
Indonesia, Europe and Micronesia. Training divers and
instructors in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia,
Cyprus, Greece and Kuwait. 17 years experience in dive
operations with 15 years full time commitment (1987-2002).

Worked and set-up "Sharkeys Dive
& Adventure Pte Ltd" in Singapore for 10
years from 1988 - 1998 as instructor and owner.
Work includes training of divers from beginners
to instructor level, supervising the overall running
of dive and adventure operations and the planning
and packaging of new programs.
Set - up "TDI Advanced & Technical Diving"
in Singapore in 1995 to develop and support Nitrox
and Technical Diving. Has been involved as guest
speaker in the following events: The Asia Pacific
MegaOcean Symposium, Dive Queensland Seminar, Tecasia
Conference, PATA talks and Omnimax Threater Dive
Talk.
Experience in dive resort and travel includes setting
up of dive operation in Tropical Coral Inn, Tioman
Island, and Peninsula Malaysia. |
Setting up of dive operation in Phuket, Thailand. Co-ordinator
and consultant of Project Dive Asia, a comprehensive
dive travel package. Has work with numerous dive operators,
travel agents and tourism boards. Represented Queensland
Tourist Promotion Board as speaker in the Dive Queensland
Seminar and Bandos Resort in the Dive Maldive Seminar.
He is also the first recognised lecturer to conduct
Dive Travel training course for travel agents in Singapore
with MFTC (Multi-Franchise Training Centre).
Expedition Leader and Film Maker

He spearheaded FishEyeProject, which
consists of 12 dive expeditions to the wrecks, caverns
and caves of the region setting the benchmark of
dive exploration in the South East Asia. His projects
have been aired on CNN and BBC news. He also owns
his dive and research vessel, M V Mata Ikan since
1999 and has worked on many international projects. |
He worked with NHK in their production of the Japanese
Survival series, which took 4 months of shooting in a
remote island in Thailand.
He, also assisted BBC in their filming of the HMS Repulse
and Prince of Wales.
He was responsible for the re-discovery of the Empress
of Asia, a Canadian Passenger Liner turns troop carrier
that went down during WWII in Singapore waters. A successful
recovery operation led by him in July 1998 was put on
exhibition in the Singapore History Museum for 18 months
entitled, the Forgotten Empress.
He was appointed by the Dutch Navy to search for their
missing WWII Submarine, O20 and KVI. He led a submarine
expedition in 1998, which received international recognition.
He found the O20 in 2002, which was aired across the Netherlands.
He is currently searching and producing a one-hour adventure
documentary about these submarines.

#8090, Instructor Trainer, and Specialty Instructor
in the following disciplines: Underwater Photography,
Videography, Deep Diver, Search & Recovery, Equipment
Specialist, Wreck Diver, Underwater Navigator, Night
Diver, Cavern Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Shark Diver and
Boat Diver. Has been awarded the SSI Platinum Diver
and Instructor Achievement Award. He is also an Instructor
Trainer with AUSI (Associated Underwater Scuba Instructor).
Technical
Diving
TDI (Technical Diving International) Instructor
Trainer #1A in the following discipline: Nitrox,
Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Diver, Extended Range,
Advanced Wreck, Rebreather and Gas Blending. He
is also an IANTD (International Association of Nitrox
and Technical Divers) Nitrox Instructor and Gas
Blender. A qualified NSS (National Speological Society)
Cavern and Full Cave Diver. |

Equipment Servicing
Certified to service and maintain the following dive
manufacturers equipment: Spare Air, Pro-sub, Mares,
Spirotechnique, Poseidon, U S Divers, SeaQuest, Apex,
Zeagle and Scubapro. He is also a certified Drager Dolphin
rebreather serviceman. He is also an instructor trainer
in the ANX Computerised Gas Mixing System.
Safety and Emergency
Certified Instructor Trainer of NSC (National Safety Council)
and React Right International. Instructor of DAN (Divers
Alert Network) and Emergency First Response.
